I have an 89 honda civic lx 5speed,with the 1.5 fi,it keeps dying out on me and I want to check the EGR system,but theres one problem I cant find it I was reading the back of the owners manual,in the emissions section,it said that only california cars with the automatic transmission have one,but at the same time my haynes book says there is one,I did notice a blocked off hole in the intake manifold,on the passanger side of the intake manifold,that looks like an egr valve could mount to but there where no holes drilled or anything,I am confused does it have one or not

 

you got it figured right.
haynes and others cover many years.
none on 88 either.
think if you go back to 1987 - they have an egr.
