Why is my (!)(P) light on again?
Hello,
The last time I reported the red (!)(P) coming on in my dashboard, this forum was able to determine that is was caused by too little brake fluid.
But now I don't know what it is. I checked the brake fluid. It's close to Max level. I checked engine-oil level on the dipstick. It's between the two holes that mark Max and Empty.
It's been like this for the past 3 weeks.
There was one time when the light went off momentarily. The car was almost empty, and I refilled the gas. As I was driving off the gas station, the light was off, but it went on again after about 300 meters.

The light comes on for several reasons:
The hand brake (parking brake) lever is not all the way down.
The brake fluid is low.
There is an imbalance in the brake system pressure (not sure if the 95 has this feature). You would probably notice decreased stopping performance if this is the case.
It doesn't have anything to do with the amount of gas in the tank or oil in the engine.
You can unplug the sensor on the brake fluid reservoir and see if the light goes out. If the sensor is making it come on even though there is enough brake fluid, sensor is bad. The switch on the hand brake lever can get stuck too. You would need to take the plastic trim off to unplug it to test.

Hi, mk378.
Thank you for your helpful response (again!).
I couldn't believe it, but it was indeed too little brake fluid in the reservoir. I couldn't believe it because it was just 3 months ago that I maxed out the brake fluid. What's going on?
I created a new thread here:
My brake fluid is low again. How can I determine whether there's a leak? And where? - HondaCivicForum.com

No need to start a new thread. Common leaks are the master cylinder, (it will usually drip out between the cylinder and the booster), the back wheel cylinders (since it is kind of a slow leak, you may need to take the drums off to check), and the hoses from the main part of the car to each wheel.
