Hey all, I have tried to post before but was unsuccessful. The bottom line is that my '93 Civic EX, 1.6 fluctuates on idle with the check engine light continuously on. The first “computer” test singled out the MAP sensor as the problem. The MAP sensor is fine, even had it replaced with no change in performance. Took my car to 5 mechanics including Honda, all sending me into different repair/replacement directions. The final mechanic hooked my car up to some grand machine and determined that the computer is not sending any voltage, maybe only .1 volts or something to the MAP sensor (while the MAP sensor is sending out 5 volts or something). This mechanic said to “replace” the ECM (computer) in my Civic and then check the wiring again. I am wondering if there is a shortcut with dealing with the matter.

One of the mechanics suggested getting a wiring diagram for my ’93 Honda Civic EX 1.6 to help him find and troubleshoot the wires. Does anyone here know to get a hold of this diagram? Maybe there’s a webpage or image for it? If I can hand this to my mechanic maybe he could better troubleshoot the idling/engine/computer issue.

Does your ECU throw code 3 or 5 for the MAP sensor?

First, it's quite rare for the ECU to be bad, so the most likely problem is a bad wire running between the ECU and MAP sensor. See pages 11-54 to 11-59 of the 92-95 Civic manual mentioned by mundy5.
