2005 Honda Civic Engine HELP!!!
I have a 2005 Honda Civic LX 1.7L, my car just died on me when I was driving. It's not the battery my radio and lights and everything work. I can turn the ignition over on the car but it won't start. The mechanic said it's not the timing belt that broke but it's a compression issue with the engine. I'm trying to get a diagnosis with someone who may have had the same problem or knows about this issue before potentially spending an arm and a leg on my car. HELP!!! The fuel pump is also not the issue

the belt should have been replaced at 90,000-100,000 miles that job usually cost $300. usually when it jumps one tooth it still runs and blows smoke 2 teeth it will run very badly with no power 3 teeth and it won't start and possibly bend valves. any more and your going to need a new engine. worse case scenario your talking $3,000-$4,000 for engine and labor.

Ok update on the car, my friend knows a bit about cars so he took a look at it. The timing belt was perfectly fine not damaged and was running smoothly. All four spark plugs were fine as well. He opened up the engine and the valves and pistons were all fine. Then we checked the fuel pump which was completely fine as well. We even checked all the fuses to make sure a fuse didn't blow and all of them were fine. I told him that I just filled up my gas tank and may have gotten a bad batch of gas. We syphoned all the gas out of the tank which looked like a hint of yellow and put fresh gas in. Waited a few hours later and the car still isn't starting! The ignition is turning over but I'm still not getting any compression to the engine. We are going to do a compression test in a day or two but after all that information wanted to know if anybody can narrow it down before I take it to a mechanic. I don't wanna spend a fortune just for a diagnosis!

what? you don't start the car to use a scan tool you just need power to the computer via the ignition number 2 on position. i asked because if the scan tool cannot connect then its most likely a bad ECU. How to Use an OBD-II Scan Tool - YouTube

I know this is Stupid but have you checked for spark? That sounds like a bad icm or coil in the distriuter. I would go ahead and replace it either with a buddys or a junker. Had this happen to me on a 95 integra replaced distributer and good to go.
Hope this helps
