Yea, Most of us know a general concept of it, I'm sure one or two have even tried it. But just a heads up.... it's cheaper to buy a new car that IS standard.

things you'll need:

transmission
new manual ecu
shift linkage
clutch kit
shifter
master and slave cylinder (if tranny doesn't have it)
pedals set
gauge cluster for 5 speed
cluster wiring harness
time

you could of course use the search function on the forum... the question has been asked many many many times now

i might do one in the spring if I can get a week off

wrong... he does not need a new cluster, as long as he doesnt mind looking at the gear selector thing that wont work. and i dont think he will need a new ecu, because as far as i know, it will just try to shift, but wont...but then agian, that could trip a code and prevent him from running...but he could just hot wire the plug that the tranny would normally plug into...but i agree, he should just play it safe and get a new ECU. and cluster wiring harness is not needed at all. you can plug in an auto cluster to a manual car, and it will still work. minus the gear selector, and vise versa. (the harnesses are the same)

I know of a shop in NJ that will charge you $250 to do it. That includes most of the parts, just not the clutch and flywheel.
