I'm new to this forum thing and I am guessing that this isn't the right place to post my question but oh well.

Could someone please tell me what this broken shinny piece is in this picture located behind my axle seal. (I'm hoping I can figure out how to post a pic.)

This is a picture of my trans where my CV axle goes into it. It seems this should be a ring that goes all the way around but mine does not instead it is broken and only two pieces left. I am at least looking for a name of this part so I can begin my research on price and how to repair (if required).
