So before I get tons of questions, you all need to know I didn't do this swap. I have done swaps in the past, but I actually bought this one for $2000. The guy has done some things that I don't understand, as I've not done this kind of swap (mostly V8's into things they shouldn't go in... Vegas, S10s, etc). I'm running a VTEC ECU, so it's throwing the CEL all the time. I think it's also messing with my air/fuel ratio in a big way. I'm running pretty rich right now. Also, I think there may have been an additional O2 sensor after the cat, but I'm not sure.
Here's my question: It's running OBD0 right now (still have to figure out getting an inspection sticker!). Is it to my advantage to find a Non-VTEC ECU and switch them out? I want to find out out of the B18A series so I don't have to mess with a new harness if this is possible. I'm new to this world so be gentle with me on my first post. I love cars, and am recently really getting into the Honda scene. Started with my 218,xxx mile 93 accord when just got a rebuild F22A6 put in it (I did do this one!). This little car is a blast to drive when it's right, and I can't wait to get back into the drivers seat.

Wow, can't wait to see the pictures. You are way ahead of me (and a lot of people on this site). There are several people that have done many swaps that will be able to answer your questions. Great place to get information. Welcome!

the right ecu for a b18 is a pr4 ecu
now there is 2 kinds of pr4's they made them for obd0 and also obd1.
now i have a 0bd1 pr4 ecu its obd1 its for the b18's
i would trade you ecu's because i need a obd1 vtec ecu
the p61 is for the b17 vtec.
also you are runing rich becasue the ecu needs to be tuned with all those mods.
the right ecu for a b18 is a pr4 ecu

Well I will work on pictures this weekend then. It's a gorgeous little engine, and I just want it to run right. I might be interested in a trade for sure. Why would this guy have run this ECU to begin with? I just cant quite figure that out. It's always going to throw a CEL, and it has to get past Dallas emissions... lol. Not that I can't probably figure that one out, but I also want it to run right and that's what I don't get. It's never going to run right if it's throwing the CEL is it? Isn't there a built in "limp mode" when the CEL is on, or is that only for certain codes? Hopefully I'll be able to post some pics today so you all can see what's up. Thanks for the responses so far though... very encouraging!
