Default Hey, am new here :)

Hey All, I'm Fay

Currently own a Mini Cooper S (R53 - year 06) Love him to bits, he is my pride and joy The handling is fantastic and he is like my very own little go-kart. I had a rally day down at Silverstone recently and to be honest I have more fun driving my Mini to and from work than I did in the rally car!
My dad recently needed a new car and decided on a Silver Civic 1.8 Type S as it suits his needs. While we were shopping about I test drove 2 of the new Type R's and I must say I was impressed with the handling and responsiveness. Really like the dash and the seats. Joined this forum as needing a bit of advise / info from you guys...the garages had a couple of Type R's all priced around 14K - wouldn't get that for my Mini and cant justify paying out more. If I hunted around, do you reckon Id get maybe a 2 year old for 10K? What does the GT include...cruise control and climate control, front fog lights...is that it? I get around 23 mph in my Mini and the salesman said that if the Typre R was driven to its potential (which it would be) it can fall as low as 17mpg...is that true?
Brakes on the Type R were good as was the handling. Has anyone on here mande the change over from Mini to Honda?

Any comments / opinions are welcome please

Cheers
Fay

As far as the mpg comment, any vehicle will see drops in mpg's if you drive the vehicle harder, under more load, and higher rpms. Your mini will not get great gas mileage if you're continuously on the throttle.

If you were to drive the Type R the way it's intended at High rpms then yes those are the numbers you will see. It's been a while but I'm back.
