eeee.....I'm not sure why you thing that an auto is better for the turbo....especially that one in the cavalier, but what I meant by "not turbo friendly engine" wasn't the CR. The engine itself is gonna need A LOT of work in order to last with a turbo. I'm not saying don't do it, I'm saying it's gonna cost you a lot...may I suggest something before you do anything to that engine? Converting to a 3.1L should give you a noticable increase in power(and notice there is a crankshaft for a turbo 3.1 available)...here are the 2.8 specs and here are the 3.1 specs. If you are going to go turbo may I suggest that you get a transmission fluid cooler...I would still convert it to a 5-speed though...

in power delivery, an auto is better, but the reality of the make-up of an auto tranny means it wont last. this isnt an old-fashioned muscle car auto-trans. its not made to handle the power you would put through it with a turbo.
