they have some boys at sohchonda.com that have built 1.5's with 150hp plus that would argue with that. there are several things that can be done from building the motor up and boosting to nitrous. there is video on this site of a guy running 11 seconds in a boosted 1.6 sohc. it definitely isnt cheap but it depends on what you want. the nice thing about the motor swaps is the bigger motors have more potential and come with more readily usable hp's stock.

 

Have a link to the specific article? Seems like a waste of money to throw down all sorts of cash with a turbo and everything on a d15. You could get a b16 or b18 for less and have a better base engine to work with.

 

its not always about going as fast as possible, sometimes its about going fast while doing something different.

 

just fyi..my friend has a d16 motor, and runs a 11 on the track at least...u can get speed without a motor swap.

 

We're talking d15b1 with no headers, the weakest intake manifold, and four speed <------------------you will not be running 11s with this engine.

the SI NEVER had a 1.5 liter engine...when it first came out in the early ninties it had a D16 of some sort.

yeah, welcome to the forum! and if you dont wanna swap out the engine then you could make the bottom end bullet proof and do a lot of headwork, throw on a bigger turbo or a mean SC with a shot of nitrous and you'll have one of the fastest cars on the forum.

Yeah, it was a 1.6l liter with 115hp on the 4th gen one. As for all the stuff you're suggesting to the kid, I have to go completely against. IT'S A d15b1 WITH 70, HP!!! He could swap in a b16 and have more hp with that engine's base performance numbers than he would have if he put on any of those three. Not to mention it would be FAR cheaper.
