Default Interior Light operation problems`

Dear Civic owners.. Im posting this on behalf of a friend, who just bought a brand new 2006 EX coupe automatic. Shes not real knowledgeable when it comes to cars, and for some reason, she cant get the interior lights to light... She says theres a switch up front on the roof on either side of the moonroof switch, and in the middle of the car. And she says neither of these switches turns on the interior lights, and shes tried it with door open and shut.. She says when she opens the car door, there is not illumination inside the car, and flipping the switches wont do anything to change it.

Does anybody have any idea whats going on here? Is there some 'trick' to getting these lights to illuminate? Do you think the brand new car has bad light bulbs?

Anything I else i need to tell her to try? I know it sounds dump, but I dont own a civic, so im at a loss to help.

Thanks.

im dont really no much about the 06 but check the owners manual, and she just bought it and i dont think putting on a light would be that difficult so i think it may be a problem, just bring it back to the dealership..they dont care, the sails person should be there to help you

hey. yeah what they all said. being brand new it would have fresh warranty. take advantage of your warranty as little things like this can be very expensive when it starts coming out of your wallet. trust me i know cause i work in a peugeot and saab dealership and once customers warranties have run out, the best thing they can do is sell the car and pass the headaches onto someone else.

Make sure than any three way switch for the lights up top is in the 'Door' position for the lights to turn on when the doors are open, or in the 'On' position if you want them on all the time. Also, the lights with no visibile switches are press on/off lights, maybe they're pressed off.

Finally, there is an interior dimmer switch on the dash to the left of the wheel, make sure that it's not dimmed all the way down.

Failing any of that, perhaps the helpful salesman who sold the car could demonstrate it's features and capabilities.
