Default LS/Vtec

So this is my first post, normaly i would get on here and just read everybody, just so i can learn and know as much as i can about hondas. but also i do have a question for everybody.

So to start you out with a idea, i have a 99 honda civic si, i found a B16a1 head, i ported and polished, also blox stage 3 cams, then i found a B18c1 Block so really u should know i was shooting for the LS/Vtec, ok and ill continue, i also have type r pistions and rods, and so many others, but anyways a kid i know that works for honda told me it is not the LS/Vtec?? i wanna know y?

And just a reminder so ppl dont think im dumb i just started tuning hondas the first of this year.

its not an ls/vtec because a b18c1 block is from a GSR Integra, not an LS Integra. The LS Integra didn't have Vtec and its code is b18b or a (depending on the generation it came from). There are other differences between the engines aside from having vtec as well.

if you throw the type r pistons and rods into the b18c1 block and top it off with the b16 head, youll have yourself what is essentially the "poor man's type-r". Its high compression is no good if you're planning on going turbo, but its good for making N/A power. You'll have to run premium fuel because of the high compression, fyi.
