Hey all.
I actually do not own a civic yet, but I am looking at a civic right now and wanted to know from experienced civic owners whether i should act or not. Its a 2002 civic SI with 134k on it, for $7000. It's at a dealership, so I'll pull up the carfax and whatnot if i go in. I'm just wondering if i should try to go after a car with that kind of mileage, and if i did, what should i do after i buy to to ensure it stays in good condition, civic wise, I know how to take care of a car :P.
Other than that paragraph, I suppose i'll introduce myself. I'm 20, i live in jacksonville, florida. I go to UNF, and am working part time through college. My last car was a 2002 dodge neon (which i had headers, downpipe in place of cat, cold air intake, and aftermarket exhaust tip, and i had planned on once i came into the money to turbo it, but that won't happen now, lol) which recently died on me, i took as good care of it as i could but i guess it wasn't enough for the little thing, which is why i'm looking at a new car.
Thanks for reading!

Welcome.
7k is way to high for a 02 Si, you can pick up a nice hatch off of ephatch.com
Look for 04-05, just because they started useing 5 lug at that time.
The motor is a bit slow, but swaping the head with a Type S head off a RSX will bring that car alive.
Of corse that would be later down the road, but check out ephatch and you might strike gold there, 7K for a 02 hatch with 134k is way to high.
Good luck and cant wait to see some pic when you pick it up.

Welcome to the forum!
+1 to what splat said. 7k is a little too much for an 02 with 134k miles.
EDIT: Just read that it was at a dealership. $7k is expected. $7k with a warranty for the next 2 years on the car would be good IMO. Maybe they can swing something like that? I have never purchased from a dealer before, so I am unaware of what they can actually do for you in those terms.

Oh wow, i kelly blue booked it, the retail value is 7400 while the trade in value is 3200, glad dealerships are allowed to do that, lol. Anyways...I figure i could talk them down a little and get some kind of warranty, at least a year, preferably 2. But eh, i'll see what goes down within the next week or so, gotta get the money/cosigns/whatnot together. Thanks for the advice and the warm welcome! I'll keep this updated with what goes down.
