New car, help required!
Hi Guys,
I have recently brought a New Civic. It is a 1999 5 door, 1.5 V-Tec. I am having trouble finding out what model it actually is, on the logbook it says it is a VTEC-2. On the Honda book I have it says there are a variety of models with varying power (90-114bhp)... does anyone know which mine is???
It a green economy light that comes on when your driving economically, which is great when petrol (gas) is this expensive!!
I love the car, but it has the following problems. Any help on these would be fantastic;
1- when the electric windows are fully closed, they start to sqeal (letting air in) over around 50mph. The sqealing can be reduce by lowering the window slightyl, so that it is not fully closed but not open.
2- Sometimes, at low revs, I can hear a quite sqealing sound coming from the engine bay. My initial thoughs are the fuel pump is making it, but i'm not too sure. It foes away in higher revs.
Any Insight on any of the above?

RE: Guys,
cool! Welcome to the forum! Your windnoise is probably caused by the weather stiprs on your door. They are probably dry rotted and cracked, you need to replce them. Your timing belt might need a look at too it its squeaking.

RE: Guys,
I did wonder if it was the timing belt, but I checked the valve clearances and the belt the other day and they are fine! Is the noise likely to be the timing belt- it doesn't sound like a screaming timing belt, it's actually very qwiet... just want to get it sorted.
So new rubbers for the windows?
