New Civic 05 owner
I had a Dodge Neon but it just took a dump on me, and I've been wanting to get something new for a while anyway and ended up getting an 05 Civic LX. To be honest I never really liked any of the Civics after 98 and up, but I like this one and I do like the new SIs. The only thing I don't like about my Civic is that it's automatic, I really wanted stick but I needed a car quick and all they had were automatic. I did get a 2 door coupe though and the windows are already tinted so I'm happy.
Anyway, I've got a nice long 6 year loan so I figured I should join a Honda forum haha. Anybody got any tips on what I should do first?

I have the lx sedan... dont worry about getting engine stuff for performance because you will really never get any good performance out of the engine... get a nice cat back exhaust, maybe headlights, HIDs, euro tail lights, rims, lower, and a sound system. Eventually drop a k20 engine into it with a turbo and you'll have a beast.
All I got left for "magellan" (my car) are the rims -which are currently from a 2000 SI- eventually be motegi 17s black w/chrome lip... and dropping it about 1.5" to not have to worry about camber issues. I do have a K&N drop in performance air filter but I cant tell a difference. I used to have an Injen shortram intake on it but in the rain here in Oregon it turns into a freaking straw. For some reason the LX has problems with air intakes and rain but the EX doesnt.
If you live in a dry place I do recommend the sort ram, on one tank I was pushing 430 miles where now I can squeak by 360 before I call my wife for help.

Yea an 05 Civic LX Sedan is good for daily driver, but the D17A1 i believe (non-VTEC) has no perf.. heck the D17s have no perf. Save your money and go KA (20, 24 etc). I have an 05 EX Coupe but I wanted to stay N/A and its my only car so I ended up tuning the D17. If you really truly dont want to swap then do a short ram to help the engine breathe better, get headers to help the exhaust flow smoother and run a cat back exhaust but nothing like a fart cannon because you will lose back pressure and youll feel slower.. I ended up doin V2 intake, HP Header, Random Tech Cat, Crower Stage II N/A Cam and a bunch more and suspension.. Oh yea if you want to make the civic look meaner DROP it about 1.8" F and 2.0" rear.
BTW since you have a 2005 Civic, Check out this site.. It's dedicated to just 01-05 honda civics sedan and coupe
