Also I saw an episode of overhauling on TLC and they were doing the overhaul to a 1995 civic, if someone saw it please could yoy tell me what engine was that on the car? I know that the cover was red with a crome bar in the center. please help me in here. Also whats the best motor for a swap.

Well, I have a 2000 EX that is supposedly a vtec, but it doesn't say vtec anywhere on the body or engine. I find that really strange and have my doubts as to whether mine is a vtec or not. Can anyone clear this up? Did they put vtec motors in the 6th gen without stamping the engine? I don't think you can get an EX without vtec, but I could be wrong.

i don't think ex's started coming with vtec engines until 2000....i might be off, but that's what's coming to mind. also, ex's are single overhead, unlike the Si's, which are dual overhead.

research things before u give advice. As stated before by MXS Ur motor is branded with the engine code....its on the left hand side on te block. (exhaust manifold side)) It should read D16Y8.....thats the Vtec for that generation. Ill bet money uve got it. Just look at the engine. If the oil cap is on the right hand side its a vtec, if its on the front left, its not.

The EX I just bought has power windows, power locks, cruise but no moon roof and I know it doesn't have the VTEC logo on the engine. Tomorrow when I pick the car up I will look at the code. I read on another site it does but I thought they where all branded
Thanks for the info
