Default New Honda Civic owner

Hello fellow Honda owners! I recently bought a 2002 Honda Civic LX (automatic transmission) that has 80,000 miles on it. The car looks like brand new and is a great ride. I do have a question for you though. When I accelerate it seems to accelerate hard. If you have ever seen that Castrol commercial when different vehicles are dragging along an anchor, anvil, etc., that's what it seems like it's doing. I did have the car checked out prior to my purchase and they found that I would need a timing belt replaced in the future. Would a timimg belt cause my car to drive hard? If not, what are some possibilities of what may be happening? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

At around what rpm is the engine when you feel the drag? Hondas dont have a lot of torque so it will not be pushing you to the back of the seat (especially going uphill)

I notice the drag as soon as I accelerate. I was talking with my dad and he said that he had the same problem with his car (Chrystler)a while back. He took his car in and said that he may have some bad gas in the tank. When the gas is at a low level at the gas station there is some water and other sediments that can get into your gas tank when you fill up at the gas station. My dad said he put some gas treatment in and the dragging subsided. I wonder if this is the case here. I never had a problem with this until just recently.

If you think it might be something with the fuel, you can do a tuneup to your car and change the spark plugs, or you could add in this liquid that cleans the spark plugs and other gas related stuff.
