Have done a bit of lurking in the past and with the purchase of a new 2012 Civic LX decided to take the plunge and member up.

This is our 3rd Civic. Had a 1996 LX, manual, (daughters car) put over 140K miles on, sold it and it's still going. Still have a 2006 EX, a/t, has 108K and still like new. Recently replaced water pump, timing belt but that's it. Only downside is it's worthless in the snow and ice which requires the use of snow tires in the winter. This transforms the car into a snow monster though so it's all good. This has been given to our other daughter who is a freshman in college. It replaces a piece of junk car she had so to say she is thrilled is a huge understatement.............

The 2012 is an LX, a/t and we take delivery tomorrow (2/20). We looked closely at the Fit and the Insight and they were both strong contenders, but in the end the Civic was the only choice for us. Gas mileage which rivals the Insight, top marks for "green scores", and WAY more comfortable than the Fit or the Insight. It's primarily a commuter car for my wife who drives 18K miles per year so comfort is a must. Our other Civics were/are so dependable that she wouldn't even consider any other car than a Honda. Even though the 2012 Civic's redesign has fallen from the top of the "experts" recommendations, reliability is very important to us and for that the Civic is still tops.

I just joined a few days ago. You are going to love your new civic. I picked up my 2012 civic coupe on September 21, 2011. I live in Maryland. Welcome aboard and enjoy your new ride.
