question about buying a civic..
hey guys, i just wanted some opinions from people who actually own civics. i plan on selling my 96 jeep cherokee after the winter season because i really want something more sporty and of course, a stick. so whats a good base civic to start from that i can add some bolt-ons and get some decent power and maybe even swap in a better engine sometime. it would be great if i can find something for around 5k...i hope. thanks in advance.

RE: question about buying a civic..
almost everybody here owns a civic. lol.
and for 5k you can get EFs, EGs, EKs (model history designations). you just have to search around.
the EG is probably your best bet for $5k.

Your best bet, is between 1993-1999. Instead of us telling you what we think is the best for you, you should search for an engine your wanting and the different models and such so you can find a car with something that fits you. If i were you i would look for a civic with a VTec. here are a few links to help you out

P.S. searching HondaCivicForum.com and wikipedia is very helpful

RE: question about buying a civic..
i think its instinct to be able to tell if a car is in good condition. i bought my first car not too long ago. a 97 ex. just make sure the owner before is a good person, the guy i bought my civic from took me to his house and introduced me to his family and everything, and make sure they kept the car well maintained. i could tell because of his personality and how perfectly clean he kept the interior. make sure the body is in good shape, like no rust and big dents and scratches. the engine is also important, but not as important to me. because later i plan on swapping it out anyway. check this out. i got my civic for 4.5k, i think 5k is enough for a nice civic, and get the 92-00 models!
