RWD conversion question
i have heard that you can put an s2k rear end in a civic and remount the motor turned around to make it rear wheel drive..... i need to kno about how much that would cost me. and what i have heard is the parts is cheap but having someone do it is what is so expensive. would this be a good investment.... i personally think it would be pretty kool to have a rwd civic.... let me kno what you ppl think... thanks

RE: RWD conversion question
Unless you or people you know are master fabricators, I wouldnt tackle a project of this size. It would be cool to have a RWD civic, but your going to spend thousands and thousands of dollars paying people to do it, and since its never been done (i dont think), they are going to have a hell of a time doing it. Just buy yourself and S2k, or drive in reverse.

RE: RWD conversion question
I agree. I have been trying to figure that one out for over a year now. I am a really good fabricator, but I dont know that I am up to it. Plus The closest thing to a budget I could work out was over $20,000. That was with me doing almost all of the work.
So, no you should not think on this any more. At least not until you have a wad of money to blow on a car that might not ever work again.
Keep dreaming though. Dreaming is how new things happen.

RE: RWD conversion question
acctually, i have seen both RWD civic, and AWD civic, so yes, it can/has been done, now, they spent tons of cash, and its not really reliable and rear suspension was hard to set up..... i agree with marty, buy an s2k

RE: RWD conversion question
there was a guy on here maybe about a year ago that had an eg 4-door with a 3.2L turbo'ed and rear wheel drive conversion. They owned a shop where all the work was done by themselves, and still were asking like 25k for it. so that should give you an idea cost wise. and if it were me, screw the s2k, take your 20g's and buy a 1990-93 nsx
