Welcome to HCF

It's a good motor for reliability and gas mileage. Definitely not for power though, if that's what your friend meant by "good motor".

kentucky FTW! i have the d16y8 motor in my 98 ex, you can turn it into a beast if you're willing to drop the cash on it. Bisimoto is turning one into a 700 bhp monster (low-compression pistons, rods, retainers, valve springs, valves, and a big effin' turbo) so you could go that route (you can follow the build in Super Street mag). If you want to keep it all-motor and still streetable, a header, intake manifold and engine internals are ways to go, you might also want to look into an ECU re-flash or a whole new ECU, Hondata and AEM make some good ones for that. welcome to the forums!!

Anyway, welcome to HCF. Are you planning on staying all-motor or are you going to boost it?
