Default Tfng

figure out the title for yourself, have a laugh.

i'm here to learn about the civic i just bought as soon as i figure out where to post about the questions i have.

i was lucky enough to score a 1998 4 door LX for 400 dollars. it needs a new cat so to save money i'm going to get a header and generic cat.

also i need a new hood and front bumper because they are both ugly and not painted. hopefully i can find someone on here or a junkyard with imports in my area.

anyway, enough of my intro and my new (new to me) civic.

Ouch. My Magnaflow cat and Pacesetter exhaust was about $325 for my 95 1.6L, your Magnaflow cat alone will cost $415 or so!

PaceSetter has a cat for your car #801612 for about $195. Thats still about twice what mine cost me for the older car.

You have way more options for your year than me from what I see. There is a ton of companies making exhaust for yours. I went inexpensive, my car (unlike your car) is not in the condition to have righteous amounts of money put into it. Mine has rust holes. Multiple.

i'll toss some pics up when i get to work, i'll snap some in my driveway before i leave.

i think i found a hood thats black for 60 bucks, i just have to drive over an hour to get it later tonight. then i just have to find a bumper and wait for my exhaust to come in.
i purchased cheap headers on ebay for 70 bucks (yes i know ebay headers are not exactly the best, but its a risk i'm taking just to get the car on the road) and i bought a magnaflow cat for 70 bucks too. so i only spent 140 on my exhaust rather then 230 for the stock cat/exhaust manifold.

you hit the nail on the head.

i was going to post some pictures, but i seem to be having one of those days. found out my camera has spots when i take pictures, so i have to take it apart and clean it. decided to use my blackberry storm to take pics, they came out great, i transferred them to my desktop at work then i came to find out i have a virus on ALL of my flash drives and it transferred to my blackberry memory card and hard drive this morning, so i had to reimage my work desktop and i don't want to reinfect it. so i have to figure out on yet another machine how to remove the virus from my memory card on my BB storm. so i'll have pictures up eventually today. I've gotta drive to jersey in a bit to pick up my (new to me) black hood that i found for 60 bucks.

anyway, hope nobody else is having a sh*tty morning like i am!

haha, window lickin' moderator, thats funny. i'm uploading the pics to my photobucket acct right now, so i'll post them shortly here and in my garage. i can't wait to get the damn thing on the road...you'll see my current daily driver in the background of the photos and understand why i decided to venture over to the import side. 12mpg in my Jeep just wasn't cutting it for me as a daily driver!

as you can see, the hood and bumper need paint, also noticed a tiny crease in the hood by the latch.

don't mind the morning dew on the car, it was 7AM when i took these. i'm going to put some in my garage now. I plan on posting some pics in THIS THREAD next week once i get my parts in the mail for my header and cat.
