Default tint question

You have to tint around the defrosters, cut panels out to fit inbetween each defrost line. That's how I was taught to do it, too much work for me, I just pay someone to do it..

yea i never heard of that one. pointbrink might be better but if u tint over the defrosters it will work fine and won't bubble. i suggest getting them professionally done or if u know someone that can do it real good the back window is a pain to do.

When you tint, do you regular glass cleaner on the tint to clean your windows? I never really thought about that, which is pretty bad.

window cleaner without ammonia. even after tinting, to clean the tint, the ammonia will eat the sticky stuff that holds it on the window

I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to cleansliness, just not lately since my current car is slowing dying and I have a new one on order. Thanks for the tip, hopefully the question that was originally posted has an answer....

Instead of cutting panels, wouldn't it work to slice the tint material with a razorblade along the defrost lines after you install it in a solid sheet?

If you get it done professionally they should cut the tint to make a space for your defroster. I wouldn't suggest just cutting it with a razor blade after installing the solid sheet because you don't want your tint too close to the heating element. Inspect their work and make sure there aren't any bubbles to begin with. I had a tint job done to my '86 Oldsmobile and it worked great, it's even gotten to the point where the tint has turning purple because it's so old.
