check valve on a MAP SENSOR???
hey everyone
good news got he cat off and runs alot better boost went up to 4 1/2 rather than 2 with it on man does it pull
well i have been looking at some things with the map sensor cause thats what was triggering the check engine light and found a site concerning it as well. http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html if you follow the link you'll see him install a check valve on the map sensor, which allows for vacuum but not boost (which i found that MAP sensors dont like) to get to the sensor allowing everything to work properly. thought i would run this past everyone see if any one had heard of this before or if anyone else has a problem with this check engine light as i do

RE: check valve on a MAP SENSOR???
try the synaps ( i forget how to spell -its sounds like snaps) ive had it on my si for ever and the light never comes on.
about $75-$100 and it comes with extra stuff to clean it. goes between map and intake
good luck

RE: check valve on a MAP SENSOR???
where did you get it? is it pretty much just a block or spacer that bolts between the intake and the sensor and then like a check valve coming out of it to vent the boost? or is it in line with the vacuum hose? also on my 99 i cant find a hose that goes to it so does its take the reading right from the intake?
thanks
