Backpressure also creates a vaccum in your engine(which is not needed with forced induction) which helps to suck the exhaust gases out of the cylinder. You don't need alot of backpressure, but maintaining a small amount of backpressure is necessary...unless you have forced induction. Good write, this answered all my question about my 98 HX. So they can benifent from a header. I was told all the wrong things about how the d16y5 is tuned.

I will leave my cat alone ( just changed manifold/cat anyway) stock. I was thinking on this setup - from the catback, go from factory 1 3/4" pipe to 2 1/4", with a resonator/glasspack in the center, and a flowmaster 60 series muffler, NO coffee can!!!!. What is your opinion on this?? thanks.
