How I fixed the rattling noise from my glove box
For quite a while, the glove box in my 2000 Civic has been making an annoying rattling noise when I am driving. I knew the noise was coming from the glove box because, when I pressed my hand on it or opened it, the noise stopped.
Here's the fix:
1) Don't open the glove box. Leave the glove box closed during the entire procedure described below.
2) Loosen the two 8-mm bolts (circled in red in diagram below) securing the glove to the frame below the dash. Just turn these bolts a few turns to loosen them but don't remove them.
3) Use one hand to firmly press the glove box forward toward engine bay and against the two rubber cushioning tabs (illustrated as red dots in diagram below) where the top of the glove box touches the dash when the glove box is closed. Hold the glove box firmly in this position, and now tighten the two bolts at the bottom of the glove box.
4) Enjoy driving without hearing a rattling glove box.
