Hey guys, just installed 17 inch wheels with 215/45/17 tires on my 01 civic. The rear wheels look slanted compared to the front. Will this cause fast wear on the tires? I also noticed it with the stock wheels but never had tire issues. Just wondering if having wider tires will be an issue. If so what can be done to fix it. FYI, the alignment is within specs with the stock wheels. Any info will help, thanks.

 

you have what is called camber(i think thats how you spell it) but i will wear the tires some. what you need to be worried about is "toe" which is when the wheels in the rear are not pointed straight but at a slight angle inwards or outwards. some cars came with camber from factory. my car had a -1 degree of camber and i never noticed any tire wear but if your stocks didnt have any problems then you shouldn't have any problems with the aftermarkets unless the tire compound changes anything.

Spec for the rear wheels is up to -2 degrees of camber, spec for front is up to -1 degree. The rear wheels are going to be running more negative camber than the front, and if it's pushing spec, it's going to be pretty noticeable.

It's nothing to worry about though.
