transmission stick loose
hey guys.. i have weird problem. First i could not go in to 2nd and the stick felt a little loose, then i had only 3-5th to drive with. Later down the road i could not shift to 5th, and only had 3rd and 4th.. weird. The stick was even more loose like it was not attached or something... Out of Luck i was driving in the drive way and went to take out of gear.... and it was so loose that i could not get out of 4th. So.. i took a look and for some reason i can swist my stick.I have no clue what this is about. Its like my stick is not attached to my transmission. Is there a way to fix this or am i screwed. IDK.

RE: transmission stick loose
Depends what the real problem is, I had a loose shifter once also, I got down under the car and looked at where the shifter stick connects to the shift linkage and sure enough found that the bolt holding them together was missing the nut and almost all the way out. So I found another nut and used "lock tight" to seal it on there. You should get down there and check it out...

While you're down there replace the bushings too, that will help tighten up the feel a whole heck of a lot. But from the sound of it it seems like you just need to tighten the bolts that hold the actual shifter to the linkage.

it sounds like the bolt the holds you shifter on fell off. A similar thing happened to me about 2 miles from my house. The bolt was half way out but was still hanging there.

Guys thanks much lol. Im in the process of swapping heads on my car to vtec.. it alone seems to be so.. confusing lol. Pics will be posted in my process though so.. keep a look out in the next month. I guess i will be the first to have a write-up on the JDM D15B head swap.
