I realize that the manual will be quicker... but is it really worth it (since I dunno how to drive one, and prolly wont have time to learn) to get a stick over a auto?... just how much quicker will it be? this is prolly a dumb question....

You can learn to drive stick in a half an hour... maybe not well, but after that, it just takes practice. Plus, you'll love it sooo much more. Get a stick.
Not a dumb question at all, but you can p[robably find all the info you need by using the Search feature.
But heres a quick breakdown. Yes, manuals are going to be a little quicker, and honestly its not that hard to learn to drive one. The main overall advantage tho is that you have more control over your car. If you need power NOW you can downshift and its right there, rather than flooring it and waiting for the auto to realize you need to be going faster. Oh yeah, and driving a stick is just way more fun

You can sort of control an auto depending on what model we're talking about, but you still won't have the level of control you have with a stick. Then again if you live in an over-crowded sh**hole that's lit up like a christmas tree from all the traffic lights (like me [&:]), you might find an auto to be less stressful. As far as power, I've never owned or even driven two of the exact same car with auto and manual, so I can't speak on that. Auto trannys are getting smoother and more efficient every year though, so I guess it depends on how new of a car you're looking at.
Man, get a 5 speed. I made a mistake of buying an auto, but this was before I got in to honda tuning, and was looking for a winter car... Manuals are faster becuase the gear ratios are a little closer, and the tranny it self weighs less, and you get slightly better gas mileage. There are plenty of reasons to get a manual and not an auto. Even though my auto currently is close as possible to a 5 speed, its still not a 5 speed.
oh, and one more thing, auto trannys are not that strong, if you are ever thinking about turboing you car, well, thats just another reason to get a 5 speed
the problem that i found when i started driving a manual, is that if i was at a stop light or somthing, the guy infront of me would speed up fast, and then when i shifted,i would loose so much time between him and me...its getting better now i have more experinence tho..and soon a short shifter[sm=happy046.gif]
