A stock 93 civic won't do 120, will it? I would expect it to top out around 105.

i have a 2005 cobalt base model 5 speed.....a automatic runs a 16.6...the 5 speeds run from 15.8-16.2......i raced a 00 si with intake, exhaust, lightened flywheel, bigger intake mani, bigger throttle body, racing clutch. and it only pulled a car and half on me with me spinning till 60mph...also in response to the speed limiter....not all cobalts are limited at 105....there has been a few with 105,115, and like me and a couple of other people that got lucky...no limiter at all....ive done 120 in 4th gear....also if the cobalt jumped u off the line he would of won in a quarter mile b/c the cars have better power after 50mph than they do down low due to the factory axle ractio of 3.58

that is total and complete bullcrap.

Cars dont accidently forget to have the VSS/ECU programmed to have the governor in it. The only Cobalt without the governor is the SS which tops out at 144. The rest of them top out at 108, because that is what the stock Cobalt can handle. It absolutly terrifies me that people with near stock cars domestic or import remove the limiters from their cars. An economy car is not meant to go 130 mph down the highway.

As another cobalt owner, I want to explain the rev limiter issue. It does vary by model, more specifically by suspension/tire package.
Some of the cars the ls and lt models rev limiter is a little over 120, due to the better suspension and tires. The base model is supposed to be 108, due to the crappy tires and suspension. I have a slightly modded base model and have had mine to 115, but pulled it back down due to the crappy tires. So yes they can go past that 108 limit easily.

And yes, doing 120 off an exit ramp with bald tires in the rain is kind of knuckleheaded!!
or maybe someone is just a

my question... does this sound like complete bs to anyone else?? an si with those mods didn't COMPLETELY own ur ass? he must have been one crappy driver, and u must have been havin a great day....

and another thing---what the hell is with the flood of idiots on our otherwise peaceful forum? i just finished reading this one, with a couple of cobalt owners(not necissarily starting fights or being jerks...but on here none the less, basically arguing for their cars)... but another thread was owned by a dipshit with two different names pushin the fact he had a deisel truck... who gives a flying f**k????

this place went downhill over the weekend... sorry I was gone.
