Default Tranny swap.

hey guys,

I've heard that it was pretty easy to replace an auto tranny with a 5speed, but I have a few questions and concerns. First off, how much would a tranny cost? How hard, and how much would it cost for a mechanic to pop it in and install the clutch pedal and all that? Any response from any one who knows what they are talking about would geatly be appreciated. by the way, me engine is a 1.6l vtec.

Thanks in advance!
Andrey

Default RE: Tranny swap.

you can get trannies for free if you look around enough, but they should be available for under 100-150 in a pinch. i needed one ASAP and traded an AEM sohc cam gear for it. try to get one from an EX, the gear ratios are shorter than any others except the si, the fifth gear is a little shorter in the si, but that will just cost a little more in gas. i have no idea what a mechanic would charge. and i dont know firsthand how hard it is, i was going manual to manual.
