turbo d16
I have a 97 civic ex 2dr. I think it is a d16y8 right? Anyway i was wondering if it is worth it to put a turbo in. Would it be better to do a swap? Also, which would be cheaper.

RE: turbo d16
about the same price. the turbo would probably be a little faster, depending on what motor you put in. so does price. the d16y8 is a great motor to turbo. a turbo will be faster than a swap, but that is about it until you do some internal engine work, while a swap would be just beginning of your power.

RE: turbo d16
With the D-series engines your best bet is a turbo. Unless you want to upgrade to a B-series which wouldnt be as fast as the turbo in the first place. Both are great options... some people prefer naturally aspirated over forced induction.

RE: turbo d16
and then theres the option of getting a b series swap and boosting further on down the road...
|
RE: turbo d16
when you say internals, what does that include? cams, pistons, camshaft?
|
RE: turbo d16
usually pistons, rods. thats what is put under the most stress with FI. also, maybe a blockgaurd or get the block posted.
|
RE: turbo d16
if you want to get the most power out of your car, do a b-series swap then build up the internals and put on turbo

RE: turbo d16
if you had the money, you should go with the k20. a thing of beauty i tell u. lol
