Default worth it?

I have a 98 EX i wanna swap my little D16Y8 to this B16B Type-R engine. the package comes with:



DOHC VTEC 4 Cyl. 16 Val.
• Year: 1997-2001
• HP: 190hp@7600
• Torque: 116 lb-ft@7300
• Redline: 8200 rpm
• Diplacement: 1595cc
• Compression Ratio: 10.4:1
• Transmission Type: Hydraulic

the pageage is around 4k + shiping + geting it in the car

i figured it's roughly around a downpayment on a new car. I eather going to do 1 of 3 things . Get a faster car (used STI or WRX). put a supercharger in the one i have. or get this engine and beef it up. advice???

Depends on how much it costs and who's doing the work (which goes back to cost). Also depends on what you're comparing it to. In other words, is it worth it compared to what alternative?

Id definitely it was worth it, as long as you werent getting raped on prices. Im all about switching up to B series, just as long as it wont cost you too much.

no not worth it, no tq at all, get a B18C1.......10 less hp, 15 more ft lbs of tq, and $1500 cheaper.

the only real reason to get a CTR motor, is to build a JDm showcar. its a showoff motor.

true. and i guess the tranny is way better than the b18c1 tranny too.

On second thought I think if you were really considering spending 5 grand plus on a swap, I'd rather just take that money and make a downpayment on a nice new 06 Si, or other pocket rocket of your choice.
