I have to say that it was an immediate improvement over stock header and catback. I bought my catback for 315 and my header for 140 from a local shop and it was worth it. The car seems more responsive for sure, at any speed you can accelerate faster, I should mention that I have an intake and altogether everything works well. Before the header and catback, i could feel when the car was ready to go faster when my foot was on the gas pedal and I used to wait for it to "load" up before I would step on it, but now I just do it without thinking about it and it goes at all gears. Specially on second and third i can pass cars with ease it takes off pretty fast and the sound is tuned deep and strong. It can get a bit loud sometimes when you just want to cruise along. But if you wanna go fast the sounds and vibration add to the driving experience. I give this product a ten, it has given me a need for speed. Since I installed them together I can't say which would help ur car more but I know that together it is a major improvement.

ive had my Megan racing header for a couple months now, it works and sounds great, but I've noticed that it quickly became very goldish/bluish/purplish in color, and now even has a few spots on it. i rub it down every couple days to try and make sure its clean, but this wont go away, im starting to wonder if something is wrong with it. long story short, the header works great, but i dont know about the long run

EDIT: sorry, i failed to realize this is 7th generation and my civic is 6th generation, just wanted to clear that up, sorry :-X

Stainless steel discolors when heat is applied, there's nothing you can do about it.

What model are you running it on? Are you si, ex or lx?

i had the Megan Racing Header for a while too.. its changed and stopped at mica blue lol ended up heat wrapping it then i wanted more low - mid range power so i dropped it and bought the DC Sport 4-2-1 ceramic header.. if you want midrange like a good amount get the 4-2-1.. cuz with the 4-1 you lose a p*ss load of low and mid tq and hp... just like with the aem sri u lose hp rather than gain..

Anyways this is about the megan header... GREAT BUY for under 200 bucks

Meagan racing 4-1 header for civic. Awesome buy for under 150 bucks... can tell in hp gain. not much sound increase .yet it did turn a goldish color after runing it for a few hours. off and on.. other than that awesome buy.

Oh man! That's what it looks like!? Dang, so you have i/h but what do you have for your catalytic converter and exhaust?

tknaub
02-04-2007, 06:49 AM
not to really point out anything noticeable but if you read his sig it says the following : AEM V2 user, Megan Racing user, and also Magnaflow user....im thinking he most likey has a Magnaflow exhaust....but the cat is a good question....

i have megan header, aem v2 intake, and magnaflow catback, stock cat...there is no need for an aftermarket cat

TheMoogly
02-05-2007, 03:06 PM
So you took the stock cat off and attatched it in between the aftermarket head and exhaust? I am planning out my next move but my cat is integrated into the stock header on my LX.

tknaub
02-05-2007, 05:20 PM
just buy EX headers and exhaust, a new aftermarket cat can give you about 2-6 more HP, if you ask me just loose 20 lbs instead of wasting qlmost $200.00

TheMoogly
02-05-2007, 06:15 PM
I'm confused... 20lbs of what? So I need to know for sure... I can get an EX header on my LX but I will need to make sure I get a hi flow cat and then I can attach it to my aftermarket exhaust... are there any kinds of other things to know about it?

tknaub
02-05-2007, 07:19 PM
the things you need....headers that fits an ex, exhasut system to fit an ex, a new O2 sensor and you MAY WANT a hi flow cat

cat, who needs a cat, haven't you people on here ever heard of test pipes, let me enlighten you a little, they work really good, you can spend 500 bucks on a header and 500 bucks on a cat-back and you're still not getting full potential outta your exhaust, my buddy kept tellin me get a test pipe and you'll be impressed, and i didnt believe him until i did, best 100 bucks ive ever spent on my car

2000 Civic Si- Stock Header, custom 2.5" test pipe, magnaflow 2.5" resonator, magnaflow 2.5" muffler, all 2.5"custom bent pipe, AEM CAI, Eibach Pro-Kit springs, EBC Brakes

I need to pass emmisions when it is my car's turn... a test pipe will not do that for me. And thanks for the clarification!

Okay how do i get a hold of an O2 sensor? Where does the o2 sensor connect to? The cat?

slow00si
02-09-2007, 01:04 PM
ol smart one that doesnt know where his O2 sensor is, a test pipe can be removed and the factory catylitic convertor can be put back on when its time to get emmisions checked, but for you that might be a problem since you dont even know where your O2 is, and just for clarification you will probably have a O2 sensor in your header right before the cat and one in the cat and you can get a replacement at any local auto parts store or online, i wont swear to it that that is the exact locations of your O2's but they should be pretty close, seriously all you have to do is look at your exhaust and you can find them

If I knew anything about my car I wouldn't have asked. I have never worked on my car, I pay shops to do it. I own no tools and if I have not read it on the forum I dont know what it is. I'm a smart guy because I study... now I know you can take off a test pipe and put a cat back on... giving the smartass comments though are not necessary because I asked a question of where a sensor goes.

ive seen you all over this forum, if you have no experience of your own then who are you to be giving other people advice, ive seen posts of yours on this forum that make no sense at all, you're taking what you've read on here as fact, well let me enlighten you a little, not everything you read on a forum is correct, its peoples opinions, and for you to take another persons opinion and offer it as fact to someone who may actually need help is bull****, personally i say that if you have no real knowledge of a product or a precedure then you have no business trying to help someone else, i understand that you are trying to use this forum as a way to learn more about your car and hondas in general but do not try offer advice on something you dont know about

TheMoogly

What the heck is your problem? All I do is pass on information I read, I DONT have knowledge in INSTALLATION because I have no tools, but I do know alot of stuff because I have spent ALOT of money and put alot of crap on my car... I know english pretty well but I guess I dont know how to type a clear difference between fact and opinion... bastard.

Anyways, I am wondering all this because I am working out a deal with WestImports to test out a header of his for my 04 LX. Before I get it I just wanted to know what else I will need to do to get it all to connect to my cat-back exhaust... you guys answered all the questions I needed to know... I'm still a little unsure about the o2 sensor but I will keep reading about it!:D

tknaub

The Moogly you are going to need an O2 sensor for your headers....anytime you replace the headersa new O2 sensor is wise....and with the test pipe....i definately would NOT do it, if you live in a place where you need to pass emmisions or need to be CARB exepmt, the deferance between a metal hi flow cat and a test pipe is only 1 HP and 2lbs of TRQ if you need just that much loose 10 lbs off......if you have shops do your work for you, then buying a test pipe would be a costly and horrible mistake because having somebody switch out parts every yr or 2 years will add up....nuff said...

just curious y is it reccommended to get a new o2 sensor, my friend installeda header on his lancer with the same o2 sensor and it works fine

tknaub
02-20-2007, 09:18 PM
in the majority of Honda civics, a new O2 sensor is HIGHLY recommend, when getting headers. I will be changing mine when i get my headersa on this civic, i have heard some horror stories from my friends about there CEL light staying on and wont turn off when you use the same O2 sensor, although they all knew how to reset it, it was still a problem until they replaced there O2 sensor, we assume that was the direct problem was the older O2 sensor.

TheMoogly
02-21-2007, 02:09 AM
Where would you reccommend me buying the o2 sensors? That jerkwas right, though, I shouldn't comment on technical things I only have read about... I do know alot about lighting and basic power upgrades (intake and what exhaust is bad to own-MINE!)

tknaub
02-21-2007, 03:09 AM
you can buy an O2 sensorat your basic auto parts store or online, and forget that a$$hole, i have learned some stuff from you...your cool in my book, i would ride with you anytime....
