Welcome civic_girl. The engine light shouldn't come on at all unless there is a problem somewhere. For that light to stay on isn't a good sign. You might want to let a Honda dealership take a look at it and see what they can find.
welcome civic girl....take your car to parts america or autozone or whatever you have in your area....they should be able to check the code thats flipped for free....should take 5 min...its probably something small but def. worth looking into.
Actually mine has been on for 25,000 miles and when i took it in to honda they said that there was nothing wrong, they said in order for it to turn off the would have to change my oxygen censor but there is nothing wrong with it, so i said forget it. My car runs fine not a problem. How many miles are on it? They told me all civics have the light turn on at 65 or 70 thousand miles or so.

yo, you might want to go ahead and swap out that o2 sensor. it may still run but it will run ALOT better with a new one. they aren't that expensive...takes 20 min tops to change it</P>
