Default tranny

I just got an engine and 5 speed tranny to replace the one in my 91 civic. The existing one is a 4 speed. Would it be possible to use the 5 speed tranny, and what all is involved in changing it. Is the clutch different?
Thanks in advance
Wendy

Yes, you can use the 5 speed in place of the stock 4 speed. It doesn't require any kind of conversion or extra parts. Same clutch, same axles, same everything.

hold on a sec. thats only true between series. a d will fit a d, a b will fit a b, a k will fit a k. and it will only work in a car with the same kind of clutch modulation. cable or hydrolic.

Yeah. I was going to call him on that too. Any 4G D series tranny will work, NOT any Honda tranny. And 4G's didn't have hydraulic clutches, so you don't have to worry about that.

something easy to overlook, do you have a shifter? if not, look into one froman old prelude. 88 or somewhere thereabout. my friend used to have one in his crx. it was nice, it was shorter than most aftermarket shift throws and had a nice handle. i think it bolted right up with the boot and everything.
