Default H22 Swap

I've started saving up for an H22 swap into my 97 Civic and I should have the money by the end of next summer (I = jobless). Anyone got pics of their H22 swap in a civic?

probably not here, they are rare because they arent really worth it. Too pricey and heavy when you can just drop in a nice turbo setup for about half the price. But if someone has pics of a swap I'd love to see it, haha.

Yeah. You'll be much happier if you just do a B series swap. H22's f*** your handling up hardcore.

I dunno where you found your prices for an H22, but from what I've seen they average around $2000. They're not that rare; I've seen plenty of these swaps.

I was gona do a B series swap, but most likely I'm not gona turbo, so I'd rather have the more powerful H22A. Plus, I've been in an H22 swap civic with extremely good handling. They handle great if you do the suspension right.

Oh, they handle fine, but when you compare them to stock civics, you'll be able to tell the difference. But seriously, for the amount of money it's going to cost you to get it installed, you'd be better off doing a B18C5. A lot less work, a lot more fun, and no serious mods necessary.

Well, I hope you're prepared to surgically alter your car's frame if necessary. And the fact that you're doing it yourself makes a much stronger case to go for a B series swap. A B-series is a very simple swap for 6G civics like yours, and B18C5's are such high compression that they're perfect for those who don't want to add forced induction. Plus, the car will be faster overall.

What kind of power does a B18C5 put out? Also, I've found B18C's running anywhere from $2500 to $4000 while i can get an H22A for $2000. I know the H22 swap is a very tight fit (which i think i could handle because I've seen it done a few times), but this B18C5 is lookin real nice except the price.

B18C5 makes 195whp in a Teg type R. Also, have you ever done an engine swap before? If you haven't, an H22 is NOT a good one for newbs, even if you have directions and have seen it done before. A B-series on the other hand is pretty much a one step process. If you were to compare the two, you would find that the B18 is a lot funner to drive, since it pushes about the same amount of power without the huge weight gain, and it's fun as hell to drive since it's so rev-happy. Overall, B18C5 = faster.

honestly, im not sure i would want anymore torque than my b18c(1) makes. i have a hard enough time keeping traction in first, and second can be a problem as well. if the road isnt perfect, then when VTEC hits, it starts to lose traction in 1st and 2nd. then theres rain. first is almost useless. if youre doing a swap, an lsd is imperitive. i dont care what it is youre putting in. unless its a d-series. then the lsd will cost as much or more than the swap, since you pretty much have to go aftermarket. and get new tires too.
