i would say its up to the driver. most people that race on the streets arent very good at it. if they were good at racing, they would keep it on the track.

the only Escort worth a **** is a Cosworth, end of story... My budy has one of those stupid zx2's and I lit him up with my single slammer barely modded.

My friend has the DOHC and I can keep up nose-to-nose on straights and run away in turns. That was before the intake and header too. It's not all about HP either... a lot of things come into play... weight, like you said before (i'm betting my civic is lighter though,) gear ratios, manual vs. auto, etc.
