Because the ls1 is like a 5.7 litre I belive, so that 350-400 hp is what, about 70 or less HP per litre. A good starting point IMO would be alot closer to 100 HP per litre. Thats why GM should change it.

who cares what the ratio is?.............hell make it 200 to one, make it one to one............who cares?

28 mpg, 400 hp (ls2), good for 150k, easy to work on,parts all over for modding of you desire. Tons of TQ.........tons of RWHP.

worring about hp to lt ratio's is for bench racing, and bragging rights in magazine articles.

I have never lost or won a race, and thought to myself "i wonder what the cars hp to lt ratio is"

If the "project" can get 28 mpg...........be a great DD, care free for a 2k mile road trip, run 5 sub 11 sec 1/4's in 10 min, have 400 ft lbs of TQ at 3000 rpm, have a skid pad # better then .9, and be a road course warrior, then you are right..........

if not..........

well, .........................

Cutt in many ways they have..........but in others they really dropped the ball IMO.

I think that over the course of the next 5 years, you will see the Corvette and caddy lines split out into seperate name plates that are sold and serviced by dealers who don't sell/service the rest of the GM line.

I think that the reintroduction of the F bodies, will allow GM to make a high 40k dollar car, to compeate with Ford Mustang and the Imports. The new F bodies will postion them self just a tad below where the vette currently is.

Then IMO you will see the Corvette taken to where it should and could be. True super car status. The new z-06 has done just that, and at a cost of 71-72k. I imagine that within 5 years we will see 100k+ vettes such as the Blue Devil and SS Vette, that will not only have the raw numbers but the style fit and finish, and over all expierance of the "super cars" in the mkt place.

The Corvette has been around longer than most of the "supercars" that are out today. I don't think that GM has set out to make the Corvette a car to compete with the 200K sports cars, until the Z06.

I agree. Kinda hard to believe it took GM this long to see that people have boatboatboat loads of money to spend on toys. The wait list for the 250k super cars in 2-3 years in most cases.

Why sell 7k z-06's per year at 70k, when you can sell 3k SUPER VETTES, @ 165k. The "super" Vette will likely only cost 20k more to build, yet the profit margin is 90k more. PLUS your dealer network, has now gotten access to people with unlimited funds to spend on up service.

And Chevy would never let the vette go. It is one of their flagship vehices and would not benefit them in anyway by making the vette into its own company

ANd I call BS on 28 MPG running sub 11 sec 1/4 unless your spraying. then spray away.

Im not really much for car bowling though. And the ls1 is no road course worrior champion, unless it is an LS powered class, then the LS would have a chance, maybe.
