The real questions is who would buy a 165k Vette? I would buy a 70K vette, but a 165k vette? I don't know, cause then its a decision of Chevy Vs. Ferrari.

ORIGINAL: LEVIII And Chevy would never let the vette go. It is one of their flagship vehices and would not benefit them in anyway by making the vette into its own company The Corvette almost met it's end prior to the c-5. numerous memos floated around GM telling dept heads that all funds had been pulled for development of the new model. Dave Hill single handly saved the Vette from certain doom. Actualy it will benefit them quite abit to split the vette and caddy line out (still under GM ownership). Why won't a Benz owner even test drive a caddy?................. cause it's just a chevy............ Why won't a Super Car customer even consider a Vette...........?cause it's juts a chevy....... get the Vette line and the Caddy line into dealers that are 5star, and know how to treat a "high end" consumer. Take your vette to a dealer now to get it worked on, and they toss you a set of keys to a Lesabre as a loaner.......That doesn't happen at a high dollar SUPER CAR dealer, or a BENZ dealer. You want your oil changed with a Benz........ they come to your home pick the car up and return it to your home, after they have detailed it. THAT is the market place to postion your self in.

ORIGINAL: LEVIII ANd I call BS on 28 MPG running sub 11 sec 1/4 unless your spraying. then spray away. Im not really much for car bowling though. no spray here............ you may want to check out what a ls1 or ls2 can do. they come from GM running pig rich (for safety) and with a little leaning out, they do some amazing things. I can actualy get 30+ while cruising at 70 mph, based upon pcm readings, which are MUCH more accurate then paper and pen. When a ls2/ls1 is cruising due to the LARGE POWER BAND.......... they are turning no rpm's. And the ls1 is no road course worrior champion, unless it is an LS powered class, then the LS would have a chance, maybe. ummmmmmmmmmmm Corvette Racing dominated the American Le Mans Series for the fifth straight year in 2005, but it wasn't easy. The introduction of the new Corvette C6.R race cars, the emergence of powerful new rivals, and the impact of new rules shaped the season for Chevrolet's two-car factory team. The yellow Corvettes raced to 10 victories in 11 starts, including the team's fourth win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Chevy isn't really in a position to make that happen with the Vette. If your talking about the name, which is pretty much all that Benz has righ tnow. Chevy's name isn't really that good in the market. If Chevy was to come out with a 165k "super" Vette, who would they sell it to. THe only ppl that are gonna buy it are the Vette guys, chances are they don't have 165k for a "super" Vette. And the guys who do have 165K for a super car, don't want to buy a Chevy. They want something with a really good name behind it. They want Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, etc.

The problem with that is first of all if you had 165 dollars in your pocket TODAY, you couldn't buy a Ferrari. The 2nd problem, is where would you get it serviced? That is a major concern for many people,my self included. My play car gets 20k miles per year put on it. In 2005 it was in texas twice, colorado, the east coast 3 times (hilton head). I wouldn't trust taking off for a 2 week cross country trip knowing if I needed a spark plug changed, I might well have to wait for 5 days to get my car flat bedded to a dealer 400 miles a way. keep in mind also, when you think "vette" you are think about a car you see on the road every day. The SUPER CAR version will look and perform like a c6-r. No one........ quote:

Also call your local Chevy dealer and tell them you have cash and want to buy a new z-06. tell them you don't care what color, and don't care what options, all that matter is you want it now. They will price you a 72k car, for 90k. if you don't but it, it will be sold next week. the only dealers selling at MSRP have orders filled thru August 06, and the dealers with cars to sell are adding a 20k "market adjustment" price. They want something with a really good name behind it. They want Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, etc. good name where? www chat rooms? articles you have read?

I don't watch LeMans racing, or any racing for that matter.
