The guy in the Vette was a retard

1. they do not make drag radials in low profile to go on those 18 inch rims

2. you do not take street tires through the waterbox because water stays up between the treads and makes you loose traction throughout your run.

3. he did nothing to "load" the car at the tree. no tq braking, no reving, just go.

1. BFG G Force T/A Drag Radial comes in a 315/30R18, 345/30R18, which are both fairly small sidewalls and low profile..im sure there are more brands to accomodate vipers and vettes...plus the exotics with huge tires...

2. and this myth about not doing a burnout, and not going through the waterbox is nothing more than a myth... every car should go through the box, and he did it right..he didnt sit there and pointlessly bake the tires, he cleaned them off, and let it spin out of the box. the centrifgual force created by spinning the tires, even at a VERY low tire speed, will be enough to throw what little water is in there, out. some time, put your drive end of your car on jackstands, and pour water over a drive wheel..then put the car in gear, and ease into the throttle...even at very low speed, say 20mph, it will shed the water in a hurry.

i hate the people who pull their street tire cars around the water and up the lines are the same ones who complain when their car gets hit with a stone that THEY tracked into the staging box when i launch. a street car with regular tires (which that Z0sux may or may not have had) should pull through the water and stop just past the front edge of the water...then spin the tires enough to clean them off, but "smoking them" is not needed...if they are DRs, they should be heated up, or smoked a bit, depending on manufacturers recommendation.

3. how do you torque brake a manual?

as for him being a retard, there is no way to tell why the car ran so poorly without more info...people need to keep in mind that when GM or C&D says that a new zo6 will run 11.50s, thats with a professional driver, in ideal conditions...

well last year right after the C6 hit the streets there was a guy at Bristol with street tires and bolt-ons hitting better times than that(11.7's)

As far as having a manual he should have atleast reved to around 1500rpm being that is where the meat of the tq curve is. It dont much matter though because that is a Modded car vs a Stock car. To me that is pointless. The Z06 is a monster and has jack for aftermarket support as of now. Wait till they can crack the de-coding in the ecu and tune them.

but according to GM guys, the zo6 is the next coming of god, in car form...so there shouldnt be any need for modding...

and the modded vs stock arguement isnt a fair one...if stock cars dont want to run against modded cars, they shouldnt be at the track...there arent any rules...there is a guy at my vette forum who has a modded z06 and it will almost run with his 10 second blown c5zo6..but the discussion isnt whether or not a new z06 can be modded, the discussion is that the big bad 70 thousand dollar "muscle car" got owned by a car half its price, and half the engine...

looks like the vette owner didnt fix his small mans syndrome that night...

I would hardly call .02 seconds owned when that vette owner can add $500 to $1000 worth of parts and rip a sub 11 second time. Either way i give props to the EVO for the win but put that vette in a good drivers hands and the outcome would not have been like that.

BTW look at the trap speed, you can tell the Vette is faster. The only thing that won that for the EVO was the AWD 60 foot time

This is how you launch a Corvette, regular C6 with driveout tags going mid 11's
