Default INTEGRA TYPE-R VS S2K?

Just watched the vid of all those honda's racing and it started an argument between my friends and I, basically does anybody know which would be quicker round a track out of a JDM/UKDM DC2 honda integra type-r 98-01 model and an s2k?
I know the s2k is quicker in a straight line, but my mate reckons its quicker round the track (judging by that video) I said that the video is not an accurate guide as it doesnt take into consideration drivers skill level or condition of cars (teg type-r being older therefore engine not in as good condition). I thought a new dc2 teg type-r would be quicker due to the fact that it is a purpose built track car that is lighter and stiffer than a s2k and also more of the s2k's 237bhp is lost through its rear wheel drivetrain in comparison to the teg type-r's.
I know this is all hypothetical and paper racing but it would maybe stop this debate im having. oh and nobody say depends on what type of track they're on!

Yeah I want the teg to win as its my next project. I like s2k's but I cant see how it would win on a twisty circuit.

Sorry man as great as the ITR is it is still has the traditional FWD dis-advantages. The ITR along with any other FWD simply is not a true sports car and will allways loose to a properly setup front engine RWD dedicated sports car such as a S2K, The S2K is a boss on the track.....afterall that is what it was ment for in the begining.

^ i dissagree with you on that.

yes it is faster, but there are other selling points to it then just speed.

its a convertable, so now honda can easily contend with others, like the miata ect.

rwd, for a more sporty feel and handling.

I disagree also, the ITR is not just any FWD car, It is widely accepted that it the finest handling FWD car ever made which puts it amongst many RWD sports cars, it is a stripped out racer no sound deadening etc. The s2k is a sports car yes, but its no track car in its standard format, its a convertible for starters so the chassis isnt as stiff and its lot more refined to make it cater for a wider market.

i think it would be pretty close, but im giving the car on car edge to the S2k. drivers could sway it either way, but if the argument is about the cars, race goes to the S2. and have you ever seen a diagram of an S2ks chassis? its absolutely insane how much support it has. it was built to be as stiff as a coupe, and is stiffer than many sport coupes. the S2s chassis is stiffer than that of the type r, let alone a lesser sports car. but i think it would ultimately come down to power. the R is pretty powerful, but the S2 is still faster accelerating.

my money's on the s2000. Road and Track did a comparo last year with the s2000 and several other sports cars/coupes and the s2000 was lauded for its track prowess.

the only thing that really held it back was the relatively small engine. but compared to the type R, that's not a real disadvantage.

I would have to go with the ITR. My friend had one and raced a couple of S2ks at the drag stripped. Pretty much beat all of them. He is an ok driver. From what he said it took the s2k too long to hit the powerband. not sure with the new version with the 2.2 in it. I think it can win on the track also. Although would need to have professional drivers to really tell. I know the ITR is set up for oversteer in extreme cornering and will let the back end trail in the turn. plus track tests have shown the ITR brakes to show minimal fade after hard testing. As far as the fwd vs. rwd just look at the speed gt series when they where using ITR's they consitantly beat the bmw's as well as other cars. Just my 2 pennys.
