17s rubbing in the rear
 

I put on 17" rims with 210/45/17r tires on my 2000 Civic but the rear tires are rubbing hard when there is any body roll. The auto shop told me to find some rubber coil spring spacers to possible stop the rubbing. Anyone know anything about these spacers and how to pick out the right one. I think maybe 1" lift might fix the problem.

It is stock

But I think the back is lower because of the 2 12" subwoofers in the trunk.

2 12" shouldn't put the rear down that far. unless the subs and box weighed a few hundred pounds. maybe your shocks/springs are shot?

The box is huge it barely fits in the trunk and the subs have 20 oz magnets on them each. Idk if I can even fit it out of the trunk, it is that heavy.

I had 40/17r on my 17" rims but the rims got all dented. So I got the 45s and it seems to be rubbing bad.

I took the subs out and it only made about a centimeter difference.

I just need something to give my civic about a 1" lift in the rear anyone know sompelace I can get this?

seems like your springs are shot. it really shouldnt be doing that. some retards are rolling on dubs with no problem.

I have the same problem on my son's 1995 Honda civic DX coupe. How did you fix the problem?

I would have to agree with the above statements about your suspension. If your suspension (either shocks, springs, or both) are worn out, your car will have too much bounce when you hit a bump, or too much roll when you take a turn. Normally that tire size wouldn't cause any problems, especially on a car at stock ride height. Instead of getting spacers to correct the symptoms, I would check into new suspension to fix the problem.

I would also check the offset. If your wheels are sticking out too far, that will cause a problem, especially with a thicker tire like you have (compared to a 205/40/17). That is always something to take into consideration when choosing your tires. Good luck! :)

I bought some spring boosters from Advanced Auto parts and it seems to have helped a little.

The tires I bought though are actually 215/45HR-17 so they are probobly to wide for my car.

Now it only rubs when I take shape turns fast or a 90 degree turn when there are bumps but atleast my car is drivable.
