Some help needed... please.
Alright, I'm a newbie when it comes to honda engines... My head gasket went monday, and I'm debating what to do. I dont want to do the head b/c it has 217k on the engine... I dont have that much money to do an all out swap, or time for that matter, to swap in the engine I got with the car. I was wondering what my best route is to go on that. I have a d15b8 currently, in a 95 cx hatch. I was thinkin of maybe the d15b vtech swap. If anyone could tell me exactly what that would entail.. or if i'd be best to just replace the stock engine. My uncle claims that he can get a b20b?? I guess an engine out of a crv. and says that it will directly bolt and plug in to everything there with no mods. I find that hard to believe. But any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

RE: Some help needed... please.
Welcome for the if moneys an issue you should consider a "mini-me" swap. That consist of putting a d16 head on your d15 block all you need is the head maniflods and ECU. And have at it!

RE: Some help needed... please.
Is there any particular b16 head... or just any in general... And would I need the whole wiring harness? I already have the header that would bolt up to that head. The only question that I have, would that be logical on an engine with 217,000? And about how much would it run?

Yea well you'll need a OBDI head and get the ECU from the same car you get the head from and you'll have to wire V-Tecbut its not that hard. But price wise depending on where you go around 150-200 well thats what it would cost me.

RE: Some help needed... please.
the jdm d15b is a vtec motor and has an lsd trans, that would be the best, cheap route to go, a newer motor, vtec, and an lsd

^ I agree, I went that route after my Y7 blew and love the engine.

The motor has 217K miles on it. If your gonna go to the trouble of doing a mini-me swap and want some power, maybe it is a good idea to rebuild the motor. But you don't have time or money. I don' think a rebuild should be more than like 1k but i've never done it before. I'm pretty sure its gonna be time consuming especially if its your first one.
