Default Need help about tire size???

I just bouth some 17" wheels for my 2002 civic coupe and I was wondering if my tires were the right size ?I got some 215/40R17/.

what is the width of the rim? is it 7", 7.5" or 8"

if it is 7 you will ned 205/40/17
if it is 7.5 you will nedd 215/40/17
if it is 8 you will nedd 225/40/17

i would go with 205/40... anything wider and you have a chance of rubbing.

I believe 7th gen civics have a larger wheel well, so you may be able to go with 215/45...stll depends on what kind of drop you are looking at though...you MAY run into rubbing issues...i'd check out 7thgencivic.com. they have a lot of specific information about your civic that you may find useful

Look on the back side of the wheel....there will be some info there that is VERY important. Size (17x7.5) and offset (+40mm) Its hard to imagine that a couple of mm could/would make a diff. The offset is the key. If the wheel is 7.5 wide the offset you need is NO LESS than +42mm. If the wheel is 7.0 wide you can maybe get away with a +40, NO LESS than +38, or they will hang out too far. Ideal for your civic (fits just like stocks) is 17x7 +45mm. You can lower the car as far as you want. (within reason of course)
