Default Y7 to Y8 mimi me head swap HELP.

ookey dokey... let me get this straight.... in the 96-00 civics the only ones that had vtec were the ex and si's (si-99-00, of course)... but the si's were DOHC while the EX was a SOHC....sooo in order to have the ever-so-sought after Vtec I MUST have a EX, right?(remember: I don't want an si, because I am lookin for a SEDAN) Is it true that EX sedans are hard to come by?

My next question: how much is it gonna cost, and is it alot of work? What parts are needed? I need the head and the head cover.... can i use the intake from the Y7? or do i need one for the Y8? I guess i could get a skunk2 intake.... I don't know alot about this kinda stuff and dun know if i could do it by myself... and i definately don't have the funds to pay someone else to do it, being that I am just a poor college kid.

This is really bummin me out guys... i can't stand the thought of buyin a civic and not havin vtec.... i won't stand for it. [:@]

well i bought a 99 ex sedan a couple years ago but i dont have it now, and as far as doing a mini-me...it would be cheaper and you can keep whatever car you have right now. do a search on here or google for "mini-me" and it will pull up alot of info for you on what parts you need and howmuch work it is.

He's debating which will be easier for him. To preform the mini-me or just get an EX.

if you want a sedan just get the EX. im assuming that you need the sedan because its a family car? sedan DX's and LX's are ****ty family cars.

I have seen plenty of Ex sedans. I want one. I would say just Min-me that sucker. It's 20+ Hp for less than 400 bucks and any mods you do after the head swap will be that much more responsive. There is a great write-up in the DIY sction.

He already has a sedan. It's a LX. That's what he's talking about modding.

actually i don't have anything right now. I was just worried that if i dont find an ex and buy a dx or lx, how hard it would be to do a mini me? if its gonna be real hard then id just try my pants off to get an ex. sorry to confuse you guys. I'm just tryin to get my civic knowledge straight so i know what i'm talkin about when i have the cash to make a purchase. thanks
