Default which one should i do

hey guys got a 92 hatch si, and have a situation, i bought the car from an older couple who drove it back and forth to work every day, they engine has 250,000 miles on it but runs good and has the stock clutch, they only ran synthetic oil in it since they bought it brand new, now i have it and am wondering whether i should keep the engine and put a turbo on it, just looking for around 200-220hp, and i would really like to have a turbo, or do an engine swap to a b16a or b18b or maybe type R, just want your opinion since i want it to be reliable, and can't decide on what to do, thanks

Well id do a compression/leakdown test to see what shape the engine is in.......then again thats a lot of miles......id lean towards a swap. You can get a D16Z6 motor (The one in there now) for reallllllllllllly cheap and it will be a Do It Yourself project, then you can boost that motor.

If it were me in this situation i would do the following.........

Buy a D16Z6 motor for like 5-600$. Keep driving your car now and dont touch the motor. Save your cash and get some Rods/Pistons for the new motor. Get the thing BUILT. Pistons, Rods, Sleeved, Turbo-Camshaft, Polished Head with a 3 angle valve job, New valvespings and retainers. Then buy a turbo kit for it. Get the GT35 turbo, holy crap, im thinking ud be making well over 375WHP. Yes, wheel horsepower. I mean ya figure the car u got now is fine, so just drive it now and build a seperate motor.......why not?

yea appreciate the advice guys, iono if i want that much power though, just looking for something fun to drive and not to terribly expensive, i never plan on taking it to the track, just love a turbo on a car though, how much do you think it would cost for a pretty nice setup? and where can i find a d16 with low mileage for that price?

You can get em on ebay or just google a search for honda engines. Well even if your not going to take it to the track, id DEF buy some internals. If ur going to buy a new motor, ud wanna build at least the bottom end before dropping it in. You wouldnt HAVE to make 350+ Horsepower, but its nice to know that you could if u wanted to lol.
