GOLF GTI DOWN!
Today a friend and I were twiddling with the damper adjustment on my new suspension, we set it fairly hard and then went out for a spin on a section of flyover. As we approached a roundabout (like a big junction) this black 96 golf gti pulls along side, the driver and his passenger look over and the golf starts reving up and then takes off, I was in no hurry as I pulled out cos it was busy and he wouldnt get that far, but this guy was a bit mad behind the wheel and the car kept lurching right as he looked for enough of a gap to get past traffic.
I followed him up a sliproad and onto a fast moving 3 lane carriage way, the road ahead cleared up and he went for it, I sat on his ass for about a 1/4 mile before we came onto this sweeping right hander, there was no way his gti was a match for me round this bend so I just sat along side him, we then came onto a straight and slowed down for traffic, his window comes down and my friend lets his down, he shouts over 'what engine you got in that thing?' I shout back 'just a 1.6 vtec' he replies 'ITS F***ING RAPID'.
My friend and I just laugh as we know its quick but come on! I then signal to him as we approach the next roundabout to 'go again' back up the way we came as the road ahead was clear, so he follows me onto the roundabout and I boot it in 1st gear slideing off the roundabout onto a long straight, I left him for dead. then I hit traffic and slow down to speed limit. And then you guessed it, this guy comes flying up the inside of me on the hard shoulder (bit of road you go on if you breakdown) like a mad man doing his loser flyby and sending stone chips flying up at everyone. Some people just dont know when there beat!
