Default 2003 EX. Engine swap?

Eh.

I leased a 2003 Civic EX Coupe last year. In a year I still can't decide what the hell to do with it. As far as keeping it or trading it goes. It has a SOHC VTECengine. I want a ......I mean I NEEDa DOHC. 127 ponys aint enough. I could soop up the SOHC, but to what extend? I have heard of people workng over the SOHC engine with new rings, crank, cams etc. in order to use the boost factor. I use this car as a daily driver, so for the most part leaning into the corners andtouching the red line. I am looking to hit 250hp+ when it's fully tricked out. Is this attainable with a SOHC engine?

AsI said b4 I need a DOHC. What will fit? B16A2 is a hydraulic clutch. Is that what i am looking for? It'd be nice to start with a little higher HP since I'll be 95 b4I can afford to T/C or S/C.

Any Ideas or comments? PLZ help

P.S. I hate Touring Spoilers. heh

With the SOHC u wont hit 250+ without forced injection. I'd definately go with the DOHC if u have the opportunity. The 127hp on your SOHC engine is really only putting out about 105hp to the wheel. But with a turbo or a blower 250 is reachable with the SOHC, its gonna cost u though

Thanx for the replies boyz. I think you are right about scrapping the SOHC T/C or S/C idea, sinceI live in a cardboard box, and can bearly afford the rent. I would really like to keep the car if I can sinceI love the body style, but only if I can make it worthy.Anyone know what would drop right into a 2003EX Coupe without much trouble?Would my car take a B16A2? Or can I save a few bucks with a B16A1?

the price your gonna pay for the b16 installed you can have one hell of a sohc. most places will sell you a package installed for around 2500. 2500 into a sohc can get you into the 250hp range. 1800 on a turbo kit, the rest into fuel managment and internals and ur good to go. i was runnin 176 whp outta a stock block d16a6 at 11psi for over 8 months then i sold it, from which i heard is still kickin. i only spent roughly 800 on the turbo kit, but then again i built it myself. its not so much the money. IMO its your preferance as to what route you want to go. either way, you can get into the 250hp range.

if you try squeezin 250 whp out of that motor...plan on breakin sh*t....its just not designed to take that kind of abuse....the car would no longer be a daily driver...i say motor swap...you will have more reliability

Default RE: 2003 EX. Engine swap?

There was an article in Honda Tuning a couple of tears ago where they put a RSX motor in an 02' Civic sedan. I believe it was an 02'.
