New to the Civic Community

Hey everyone, I'm the new owner of a 98 Civic DX. Yay for non-VTEC, 1.6L, 4 Cylinder power! I'm a big newb, but hey everybody starts there at some point. I'm trying to learn as much as I can, and want mods that I can do myself. I also want to know more about my car. What's good about this model? What's not?

I want to get better acceleration, more predictable handling and traction at high speeds, and a "cooler" sound. I just purchased the $30 ebay special CAI, and was wondering what sorts of guides there are out there for installation. I figure that this relatively easy mod will help get me acquainted with my civic.

Once I get the money and time, I'm looking to get away from the 14" steel wheels and get some nice 16 inchers with high-performance tires. Any pointers here?

After that, anyone have some advice? Money is a factor, so I'm not really looking to do major things. Wheels and exhaust are about as expensive as I'd like to get. But first I'm going to need some tools and such. Is there a good site for all the garage tools I'm going to need?

WELCOME! i strongly suggest buying a K&N filter for ur new cai. installation is pretty easy for intakes. tools u can buy just about anywhere. i know sears, advanced auto, and pepboys sell those craftsman tool kits that come with everything u need but are pretty pricy. just look around ur local hardware stores and such. a nice set of sockets and a good socket wrench will get most of ur bolt on projects done just fine.
